چکیده

In the paper, a family of methods that work in the domain of Discrete Fourier and Discrete cosine transforms and proved to be very efficient for adaptive and local adaptive image restoration and target location is reviewed and possible ways for their implementation in analog optical image processors that work with the speed of light are discussed. ©Anita Publications reserved. Hybrid processor to compute invariant moments for pattern recognition.

The use of invariant moments" 2 for pattern recognition and scene matching has received considerable attention.1-8 The majority of this work has utilized digital processors. 3 -6 In this Letter, we describe a hybrid optical-digital system that can compute all the invariant moments of a 2-D image in parallel by spatial convolution. This is an extension of earlier work7 that required separate mas...

Bimodal optical computers.

Analog optical solutions of numerical problems tend to be fast, simple, and inaccurate. Digital optical or electronic solutions to the same problems tend to be slower, harder, and more accurate. In circumstances outlined here, hybrid analog-digital systems can be built which give the accuracy of digital solutions with intermediate degrees of speed and simplicity. Because at any instant these pr...

Real-time display on Fourier domain optical coherence tomography system using a graphics processing unit.

Fourier domain optical coherence tomography (FD-OCT) requires resampling of spectrally resolved depth information from wavelength to wave number, and the subsequent application of the inverse Fourier transform. The display rates of OCT images are much slower than the image acquisition rates due to processing speed limitations on most computers. We demonstrate a real-time display of processed OC...

Optical Fourier processor and point-diffraction interferometer for moving-object trajectory estimation.

A hybrid optical-digital signal processing system that estimates the trajectory of moving targets in a two-dimensional field at video frame rates was developed and constructed. The hybrid system is particularly well suited to the trajectory estimation of small, barely discernable, moving objects of unknown position and velocity in high-resolution image sequences. The system uses an optical Four...

High accuracy computation with linear analog optical systems: a critical study.

High accuracy optical processors based on the algorithm of digital multiplication by analog convolution (DMAC) are studied for ultimate performance limitations. Variations of optical processors that perform high accuracy vector-vector inner products are studied in abstract and with specific examples. It is concluded that the use of linear analog optical processors in performing digital computat...
